Just for Rose (and for you if you want to understand the Gnarl style a bit more in Apo.)

scale = about 7
brightness = about 18
Gamma = 3

Transform 1

  Weight := 0.593;
  Color := 1;
color speed := 0;
  Opacity := 1
  horseshoe := 0.127(makes gnarl softer use a little of any variation here)
  blur := 0.416
                

Transform 2

  Weight := 70;
  Color := 0;
color speed := 0.997;
  Opacity := 1
  linear := 1 (more or less tweak here)
  eyefish or bubble or spherical etc. := 0.026(tweak here)
  pdj := 0.19(tweak here aswell as the the pjd a, b, c, and d variables)
  pdj_a := -3
  pdj_b := 0
  pdj_c := 0
  pdj_d := 0
move fx2 0.1 down 0.2left
rotate 45CW
Make tx2 a little bigger or smaller(tweak here)
now grab it with the mouse and move/rotate tx2 to tweak further.

Play with the values in this transform you can also play with the weight(from 40 to 120)

Add some more transforms even a final tx and tweak away

You end up with something like this
